Data Protection (nLPD)
The Swiss law that guarantees the security of your customers' information.
What is nLPD?
The nLPD (new Data Protection Law) is the Swiss law that came into force in September 2023. It requires any company (even small ones) to be transparent about what they do with visitor data (emails, phones, statistics).
What you must have
- A visible Privacy Statement on your site.
- Know exactly where your data is stored.
- Have visitors' consent before tracking them (if your tools require it).
Where does it apply?
It's a federal law, so it applies throughout Switzerland. However, it also concerns foreign companies that process data of Swiss residents.
If you also deal with Europe, you'll also need to comply with GDPR (the European equivalent law).
